Concession crash
An 85-year-old man has been charged with careless driving in connection with an accident that saw a car crash into this traffic light pole on Concession Street at East 22nd around 10:30 a. m. on Oct. 23. Police say the car had pulled into the Royal Bank parking lot where it collided with a van. The car then left the parking lot and crashed into the pole. An eight year-old girl standing on the corner with her mother and sister was struck by the pole. She was treated and released at hospital. The occupants of the car were also taken to hospital with minor injuries. 149858 Father, daughter on Road 2 Hope Mark Collis and his daughter, Amanda have become a fixture in the Hamilton/Burlington area running scene, having competed in everything from five to 50-kilometre distance races since 2000. The pair will tackle the Road 2 Hope Hamilton Marathon (Boston qualifier) this weekend for the first time. 149865 Angry Grannies On Tuesday, NDP MPP Paul Miller and Hamilton grandparents gathered at Gore Park to protest the Ontario government’s decision to scrap Temporary Care Assistance (TCA) financial support for grandparents raising grandchildren. The TCA program provides income assistance and benefits to adult caregivers on behalf of a child. The maximum amount of monthly assistance is $231 for the first child and $188 for each additional child. Under the Ontario government’s new rules, grandparents raising grandchildren no longer qualify.
