More than 600 tickets were sold for Paint the Town Red, held at Michelangelo on Hamilton Mountain. Well-known local artist Shirley Elford acted as honourary chair of the event, which included a new Guinness Book of World Records for the most people wearing red noses in one location. Other highlights included Las Vegas singing comic and impressionist, Houston MacPherson and interactive musical entertainment led by Judy Marsales and the Noteworthies. The event raised more than $100,000 for the hospice. The Braves beat the Cavaliers 2-0 to advance against Bishop Tonnos in the semi-final. The St. Thomas More junior girls also advanced. The Knights were to face Cardinal Newman in the other semi-final. Results were not available at press time. On the boys side, Braves were shut out 5-0 by Bishop Tonnos, while the Knights crushed St. Mary's 9-0.
