Caring operation
Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School students took part in the Operation Shoe Box drive. Inspired by a Mountain News article highlighting the drop in donations to Neighbour to Neighbour Centre, the Hamilton Girls Hockey Association rallied to the food bank’s aid on Dec. 20. They collected more than 2,300 pounds of food during their annual skate-a-thon that day. The Atom B team alone brought in over 324 items and won a movie night. The Hamilton Red Wings Junior hockey team held a food drive at a recent home game against Cobourg. Helping collect food and cash donations for the Neighbour To Neighbour food bank were Bobbi Dezainde and Jenna Vasiliaskas. The Red Wings also sent local fans home happy with a 5-4 win over Cobourg.
