Have an ice day
Volunteers such as Gary Schwoob are getting outdoor rinks up and running at public parks across the city. Schwoob has been creating and taking care of the ice at Mountain Drive Park for a quarter of a century, some years getting seven distinct rinks up and running, including one under the pavilion. Anyone who wants to start a rink in their neighbourhood should contact their local recreation centre. Schwoob can also use some help with shoveling and flooding.

He is one of 12,000 torch bearers across Canada who was chosen from 2.7 million applicants to run the flame to the Winter Games in Vancouver.
