Re: I've had enough of crybaby Khadr, July 18
Thank you Mr. Cripps for speaking out on something that I think a lot of us are thinking.
In this unfortunate age of political correctness, it is heartening to read an editorial that goes outside the box and tells it like it is. Or should be.
I've read many books on Islam and its history and to me, these fundamentalists are warping the true meaning of a religion that purports peace and harmony among all people. The fact that these people feel that they can come to a democratically free country and abuse the idea of freedom of speech to spout hatred for our society is beyond me. It has always bewildered me that they would choose to live in a country and society that they obviously detest.
Why is it that they can spout off about us and not be charged with hate crimes but if we were to voice our opinions on their warped sense of societal mores, it would be possible for us to be vilified?
Kudos to you and your paper for speaking out on a touchy subject.
