Hamilton's annual Arts Awards program is made up of five awards of excellence in five different disciplines -- literature, visual art, theatre, dance and music.
The awards are given to artists in the Hamilton area to recognize the significant contributions of artists in their chosen discipline.
A lifetime achievement award may also be presented. The recipient of this award is selected by the City of Hamilton's Arts Advisory Commission based on artistic output and activity over an entire career, including volunteer work and a commitment to public awareness in the arts.
In addition to a $1,000 cash prize, each winner will receive a commemorative medallion designed by artist Dora de Pedery Hunt.
The awards will be presented at the City of Hamilton Arts Awards reception on Nov. 24.
The Arts Awards is a project of the City of Hamilton and the Arts Advisory Commission.
A panel of professional artists, community representatives and a member of the Arts Advisory Commission will form the jury for the awards.
