Royals are tops at Topper's tournament

Tournament MVP Marc Teboekhorst went two-for-three at the plate to lead the Guelph Royals to a 10-7 win over the Burlington Bulls in the pee wee AAA final at the Topper's Pizza Rep Baseball Classic at Olympic Park July 6. Teboekhorst also scored a run and pitched the save for Guelph. The tournament was hosted by the West Mountain Baseball Association.

Matt Beaton was the winning pitcher and scored two runs to help his cause. Garrett DeOre was three-for-four at the plate and scored two runs for Burlington. In semi-final play, the Bulls came from behind to beat Pickering Red Sox 17-12 and Guelph downed Simcoe 7-5.

In the pee wee AA final, the Kitchener A's came back to edge the Windsor Walker Homesites 9-7.

In the Mosquito Division, Zak Shazaman was named the tournament MVP as he pitched three innings for the save and scored one run in leading Etobicoke Titans to a 5-4 victory and the AAA championship over Toronto Playgrounds.

Mosquito AAA semi-final action saw Shazaman and Bryden Paulssen both hit triples and score twice and Connor Martin was the winning pitcher as Etobicoke stopped Simcoe 13-2. Toronto eliminated the Hamilton Cardinals 4-2 in the other semi-final.

In the AA championship, Mason Kearney pitched a no-hitter, fanning 14 of 15 batters he faced to lead Windsor Riverside to a 12-0 win over the Burlington Bulls. The A final saw Milton score six runs in the third inning en route to a 14-2 victory over the Aurora Jays. Justin Van Goch was the winning pitcher with no hits and six strikeouts in three innings. Jaime Mercado scored three runs for Milton.
