There were some anxious moments at St Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School on Acadia Drive last week.
On Oct. 22, a man wearing a blonde wig, a Brebeuf kilt, garters, black nylons and high heels accosted some female students in the school parking lot.
Police say he lifted his kilt in front of the girls but was wearing something underneath.
One of the girls then went to nearby Billy Sherring Park to warn another girl about the man.
The suspect followed the girl to the park in his van and began waving at her while her friend took his picture with her cell phone. Police say both girls feared for their safety.
The man also followed the girls to a nearby Tim Hortons before returning to the park.
Two school vice principals were alerted and called police. They drove over to the park and saw the suspect heading north on Upper Sherman.
Police found the van in the area of Eaglewood Drive and Elmbank Street on the east Mountain and brought the suspect back to the Mountain station for questioning before releasing him.
After detectives interviewed the students they determined there was a case of criminal harassment and contacted the suspect, who turned himself in to the Mountain station around 5:30 p.m.
Charged is 34-year-old Shawn Castelli of Stoney Creek.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday.
“We’re still investigating to see if there are any other incidents at the school,” said police detective sergeant Tom Andrew.
