Disappointment leads to business venture

An east Mountain entrepreneur says he can give home sellers an edge with what he calls “HD YouTube for real estate.”

Thomas Tavani started Realty Video Canada about 10 months ago, not long after his family’s last move.

“We were really disappointed with all the virtual tours we saw,” Tavani said, adding he joked with his wife that they should start their own business with more useful features.

After getting settled, he started thinking seriously about starting that business.

A long time dabbler in home video, Tavani struck on the idea of high-definition home video tours that would entice home buyers to take a closer look.

Before long he had his website (realtyvideocanada .com) up and running and was taking orders from private sellers and realtors.

“It’s like YouTube, but specifically for real estate,” said Tavani, who was born and raised in Hamilton. “With every move we gained the experience necessary to start this great company that is the first of its kind in Canada.”

Tavani said while most of his business so far has been from agents, he also offers packages to help private sellers which include for-sale signs, the HD video, online marketing, a DVD laser and social media site exposure.

Right now the business isn’t quite able to provide an income matching the hours Tavani is putting into it, but he said he can see having to make a choice between his new business and his financial advisor job within the next year.
