St. Catharines woman dies after delayed return from Jamaica

Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada calls for changes to expedite repatriation of ill travellers.

St. Catharines resident Kelly Beckerley-Murphy died following efforts to bring her home after she became critically ill while vacationing in Jamaica. 

Although Kelly Beckerley-Murphy eventually made it home from what was to be a weeklong vacation in Jamaica, it was too late to save her.

With her family at her side, the 65-year-old St. Catharines woman died late Thursday at the local hospital.
