Re: NDP politics
Last week we found out about a dirty little incident in Thunder Bay whereby laid-off mill workers were told there was a meeting they should attend in regards to their current situation.
The Canadian Energy and Paperworkers Union emailed its members advising them that they should gather at 6 p.m. in Thunder Bay to discuss their benefits and other employment options. They were all bussed out to find that they were not in fact going to attend a meeting, but instead a political rally. NDP leader Jack Layton appeared on stage and began talking politics.
These workers were fooled. It's shameful; it's disgusting. The NDP talks a big game about helping workers who are laid off but here they are using them as mere props. I am so disappointed with the NDP.
But, we're seeing the same tactics here on Hamilton Mountain. Dozens of Liberal lawn signs are being ripped down and in their place, NDP signs are being erected. This is not the kind of politics I want to see. I want policy and ideas, not dirty tricks.
Run a clean race NDP!
