I read your editorial 'Immigration that works', March 21, 2008.

It seems the news media is always spouting off about the plight of newcomers to this country, and refer to Canada as the promised land. However, no sooner do immigrants step onto our shores and start demanding high paying jobs in their chosen field.

We have a criteria set forth that requires immigrants to meet certain requirements in these fields.

The children born in this country are required to meet this criteria as well, so why not the landed immigrant.

There are a lot of third and fourth generation Canadians who are having trouble getting jobs in their chosen field. I do not see the media taking up their plight.

Is it politically correct to further the interests of the landed immigrant over the Canadians born here?

We have a great amount of unemployment in the Canadian contingent. Should we not consider them first?
