Published on May 02, 2008

On Sunday, May 11, Linden Park United Church will welcome The Halifax Boys' Honour Choir. The choir will sing at the beginning of the Mother's Day Service before catching their plane home to the Maritimes.

Now in its 22nd year, The Halifax Boys' Honour Choir is an auditioned choir comprised of 45 students with unchanged voices from Halifax elementary and junior high schools.

Under the direction of Pamela Burton, and accompanied by Leah Manning, the choir maintains a busy concert schedule, ranging from commemorative ceremonies, to television appearances, to music festivals. Recent honours have included 'Best Community Junior Choir' in the 2007 Truro Music Festival and the Choral Rose Bowl award for the 'Most Outstanding Choir' in the 2006 Halifax Kiwanis Music Festival, along with recommendations to the Provincial Music Festival for each of the past four years.

The boys have performed in all four Atlantic Provinces, Quebec and Ontario. Performances in the past three years have included the Parliament Buildings, Montreal's Olympic Stadium, joint concerts with the Men of the Deeps and the Rankin Sisters, and very recently, with David Foster. Linden Park United Church is located at 484 East 16th Street, kitty-corner to Hill Park Secondary School. All are welcome to attend the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
