Enjoy a delightful family outing and experience the folk music and dance of the British Isles while touring over 35 historical buildings as Westfield Heritage Village presents British Isles Day, on the Sunday of the Victoria Day weekend, May 18, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Enjoy the music of the founding cultures of Ontario around the village throughout the event. Performers shall include the Cambridge Splinters, Geoff Lewis, Tethera, Whirly Gig, and Jean Mills and Angie Stock, all coming together for a lovely afternoon of music and dance. This event is brought to Westfield in part by the Mill Race Folk Society.

Visit historical military encampments and join Bonnie Prince Charlie as you witness the re-enactment of the Battle of Culloden at 2 p.m. The Battle of Culloden (April 16, 1756) was the final clash between the French-supported Jacobites and the Hanoverian British Govern-ment in the 1745 Jacobite Rising. It was the last battle to be fought on mainland Britain.

This time period was a watershed for the Scottish people and for the highlands especially. The events of 1745 led to the Highland Clear-ances and therefore the early pattern of Scottish migration to North America. Bonnie Prince Charlie (Prince Charles Edward Stuart) led the Scottish rebellion of 1745 and will be in command at the battle re-enactment at Westfield.
