GREEN GARDENING

Did you know fall is the most important time of year to prepare the lawn or garden for a pesticide-free spring? On October 14, 7-8 p.m. at Twin Pads Arena (Chedoke Rm.), 91 Chedmac Dr., Naturally Hamilton will deliver the Green Gardening 101: Fall Focus presentation in collaboration with the City of Hamilton. The presentation includes step-by-step fall turf care and gardening tips along with need-to-know city of Hamilton Pesticide By-law information designed to prepare citizens for a green pesticide-free spring.

GENEALOGY AT ITS VERY BEST

On Saturday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be an exciting genealogical workshop for beginners and those who are not so new at the game. Hosting the Workshop is the Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. Speakers are Fawne Stratford-Devai of the television program "Ancestors in the Attic", and Jane MacNamara, who teaches courses for the Ontario Genealogical Society. A Fall Bazaar will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chalmers Church located at 200 Mountain Brow, north of Concession Street at Cliff Avenue. Home made crafts, penny sale, bake and deli tables, book sale and attic treasures. Raffle for hand-made quilt and a luncheon is available.

130TH ANNIVERSARY

MUSIC

Watoto Children's Choir will perform at St. John United Church, 195 East 38th St. Hamilton, on Sunday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m. This dynamic choir is made up of children whose parents have died of AIDS in Africa. Documentary DVD will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on the history of the choir and orphanage. Free will offering for the choir and orphanage welcome.
