Three local swimmers will go for the gold this summer in London, Ont. The swimmers have qualified to compete for Team Ontario at the Canadian Special Olympics National Summer Games, July 11-17.
The swimmers are Bobbi-Lyn Cleland from Ancaster, Chuck Restivo and Beth Shearer from Hamilton. Members of the Dundas Seahawks Swim Team, the three practise weekly at the Dundas pool, but have been honing a week in preparation for the games.
The swimmers were chosen from their individual results from the 2008 provincial spring games held in Hamilton.
If the athletes are successful at the nationals, they could have a shot at reaching the international competition in Greece in 2011.
